HOME SATSANGA

It is said, a family that prays together, stays together. But in these modern days, people hardly have the time to go to temples. We at ISKCON Belagavi have a concept called Satsanga Mandal or a home program, where people can transform their home into a temple. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur had this mood, he considered his house to be Goloka, where Lord Krishna resides. Every week all devotees of one locality get together at one devotee’s home, sing bhajans, recite verses from the shastras like Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam and have discussions based on those verses. In this way everybody gets a chance to study the Vedic literatures at home, practice spiritual principles like chanting, cooking, and in turn, the tree of devotion or Bhaktilata sprouts in everybody’s house. Now we have 22 Satsanga Mandals running. For anyone who attends Gita course or Journey of Self-Discovery course, we have new satsang mandals starting, and they attend more programs. In this way the number of devotees is growing.
